Wobble Words hits #43 on Palm’s Hot Apps leaderboard

Last week: #50, this week: #43!

Wow! This puts us within striking distance of the top 20, which would earn us $10,000 in prize money from Palm. I really want to thank our users, webOSRoundup, PreCentral and Palm for all their support. Even if we don’t make the top 20, I’m extremely pleased with the kind words, excellent feedback and feverish support of our users. Thank you!

Update: it moved up another spot to #42 last night. Sneaky, sneaky.

Gobico Gear is open for business!

Swag for sale? Hey, why not. Snag a shirt, hoodie, water bottle, coffee mug, travel mug, clock, dog shirt (DOG shirt?!), baby onesie… or all of the above. Yeah, we know we’re a little small to be peddling swag, but why not? Gobico receives $2 for any item purchased, so it’s like buying one of our apps, only something you can wear or use… while playing our apps. Or maybe snapping a picture of yourself wearing our logo while playing our apps. Once you add webOS multitasking to the picture, the mind boggles with infinite possibilities…

Wobble Words 2.0.5 update

Wobble Words’ latest update improves word drawing lag issues reported by users since webOS 1.4. So unless you’ve got a bunch of apps in the background stealing precious CPU cycles, you should see much less “hiccups” when drawing words.

Also, some users have reported the app icon vanished when they updated (starting with 2.0.3). This is a glitch with webOS, Palm is aware of it. Meantime, to get your shiny new Wobble Words app icon back, just restart your device and voila!

Poker Drops 1.0.6 update

This release of our unique poker solitaire puzzle game has a few important changes:

  • Aces may now be played in low straights (a popular user requested feature), so A-2-3-4-5 is now a valid hand
  • Drawing hands is now less laggy (much much less)
  • A bug that prevented cards from changing orientation when you tilted the device has been fixed
  • Just a reminder that the weird joker bug was fixed in 1.0.5 (go update your apps!)

App of the week: Endless TriPeaks

“What apps do you use?” is a question I get a lot, and I pull out my Palm Pre and point out the good ones. Last month’s developer conference had a lot of casual exchanges like that. Half the people I talked to were competitors, but it wasn’t a big thing. In the end, we’re all still webOS fans. In that spirit, every week I’m going to feature one cool webOS app made by another developer.

Endless TriPeaks by Endless Wave Software

"Circle" variation in Endless TriPeaks

We released Poker Drops a little over a week ago as our entry into the solitaire game category. At the time, there really weren’t any “gotta have it” solitaire apps to compete with our app. That changed a couple days ago.

Endless TriPeaks is a solitaire variation I hadn’t played before, but I love it. It’s simple, engaging, addictive (dammit), and has a bright, clean design style that makes you smile just looking at it. The gameplay is perfect for a mobile device; a single tap for each play. It features five variations, each with their own high scores, and they are all fun to play.

My only wish is that it had sound, but given the difficulty in developing webOS SDK games with sound (trust me on this), it’s not exactly something I can blame Endless Waves for lacking. Update: I talked with Tom at Endless Wave, and he said they’re working on adding sound… sweet!

I love this new game. I’ve been playing it often and sprinkled 5 stars on the review for it. If you like solitaire, go get this app… right after you get Poker Drops, of course (hey, we have to eat, too!)

Endless TriPeaks is in the Palm App Catalog for $0.99 (a steal)

Wobble Words hit #50 in paid app category

Well, well! Just took a look at Palm’s app leaderboard for their “Hot Apps” competition, and our favorite word game app is still moving steadily up the list. Thanks so much to our loyal users not only for purchasing our game, but giving us great feedback and some fantastic ratings and comments.

Wobble Words climbing the charts this week

Our customers rock!

Poker Drops is new in the App Catalog!

Well, it’s a week old, but still pretty new. So far, the downloads have been good and the feedback great! A few notes from users:

Poker Drops Icon

  • Version 1.0.2. has a bug where jokers don’t always work properly. This has been fixed and we’re waiting for Palm to release the update (1.0.5.), hopefully next week.
  • Several users have requested that we allow aces to be used as low cards, so we’re adding that in the following release (1.0.6.)
  • One user commented that finding poker hands is harder than finding words. We believe that in much the same way Wobble Words can help your vocabulary, Poker Drops can help train you to recognize poker hands better. We are tempted to add a “hint” feature to help, stay tuned for that.
  • PreCentral posted a Quick Review http://www.precentral.net/quick-app-poker-drops which looks great — thanks!

Hello Gobico!

Just testing my blog access. Hope it works! Also, welcome new AT&T users to the webOS family!
